From Ireland to Beijing, a journey into circus and acrobatics revealed that the kind of colourful, expressive performance wear envisioned simply was not out there. After endless searching for pieces that felt playful, confident and stage ready came up empty, Bubble Bum was created to bring that vision to life, designing pieces that inspire movement, creativity and self expression.
HANDMADE IN WUQIAO
Behind the scenes and between the seams, Bubble Bum pieces come to life in Wuqiao, China’s hometown of acrobats. Here, traditional Asian craftsmanship meets Bubble Bum’s bright modern spirit, blending qipao inspired silhouettes and heritage pankou details with bold geometry, signature stripes, strong lines and rich velvet textures. Each piece is created in small batches with care, creativity and pride, or sew it seems.

Jess & Renjie
Bubble Bum was founded in 2018 through a creative partnership between Jess in Ireland and Renjie in China. What began as a fascination with Chinese design and qipaos in childhood eventually led to studying in China, learning the language and building a collaboration rooted in trust and shared vision.
Renjie’s cultural heritage and expertise in traditional garment construction meet Jess’s background in circus and performance design. Together, bold geometry and signature stripes fuse with qipao inspired silhouettes and heritage techniques to create pieces that feel modern, sculpting and unmistakably distinct.
